Maintenance during operation

1. The inlet pipes must be full of liquid, and the pump is not be allowed to work for a long term under the cavitation erosion conditions.

2. Check the current value of the motor regularly. The current value should not exceed the rated current of the motor.

3. After the pump running for a long term, the noise and vibration of the unit are increasing due to mechanical wear, it should be stopped for inspection, and when it’s necessary, the wearing parts and bearings can be replaced. The overhaul period of unit is generally one year.

  • When installing, first check the inside of the pump casing, and confirm that there is no foreign matter.
  • Put the water pump unit on the base, plug in the shim plate between the base surface and the base bottom surface, and make the installed water pump reach the designed levelness and elevation through adjusting the shim plate thickness; increase the water pump’s stability to make convenience for secondary grouting. Pay attention that the shim plate should be placed at both sides of the ground bolt, if it is only placed at one side of the bolt, a bigger size of shim plate should be selected according to the diameter of ground bolt. Inclined shim plates must be used in pairs. The shim plate surface must be smooth, the shim plate number of each group is generally no more than 3~4 blocks, thick shim plates should be placed at lower levels, and the thinnest shim plate should be laid in the middle; the shim plates of the same group must be placed in good order. The level and direction of the water pump should be adjusted, then weld and fix each group of shim plates. The process of adjusting level should be conducted simultaneously in combination with the ground bolt.
  • Check whether the direction precision of the preformed hole on the buried base of ground bolt is accurate, and then pour enough grout into the gap between the foundation and the base concrete, to form concrete structure. The orifice size of the ground bolt preformed hole is determined according to the bolt diameter. For bolts with the diameter of 12~30mm, the preformed hole should be 100mm ×100mm, and the hole depth is determined by specifications of bolt length.
  • The mixing proportion of 1:2 or 3 between No. 400 cement and sand for grout is generally adopted. Special attention should be paid to constrictive cracks and relevant specifications of construction. When the grout is hardened completely, screw the ground bolt nuts.
  • When the water pump is installed on vibration isolation materials such as vibration isolator or vibration isolating pad, the vibration isolation materials should be arranged with the center-of-gravity position of water pump group as its center. Although using vibration isolation materials can prevent vibration on bases, the vibration of water pump is increased in some degree.
  • In order to ensure the water pump running safely, the water pump is not allowed to bear applied load from pipe, valve, frame, etc.; this kind of load must be supported by bearing. The flexible coupling or corrugated pipe is required to equipped on the inlet drainage pipelines to eliminate pipe vibration and thermal deformation influence.
  • Connect the power line and earth wire correctly according to the mode of connection indicated on the name plate of the motor.
  • Fasten all connecting bolts (which may become flexible during transportation and handling process).
  • When welding the pipeline, the motor should be covered to prevent high-temperature welding slag entering the motor fan and burning it.
